Toronto Artist

Toronto Artist “Bird Rescue” on Ontario College of Art and Design Construction Walls (2002) A flock of hieroglyphic birds soar freely and aggressively towards their imprisoned brethren. The over sized bird shrieks unheard from within it’s cage as a psychedelic metamorphosis hideously mutates the captive creature .Inspired by a combination of Inuit drawing techniques and strange stories from the world of anime, I painting this giant mural way back in the winter of 2002. The Ontario College of Art and Design was undergoing it’s absurdly magnificent face lift and the construction walls encompassing the old architecture provided an immaculate canvas. As well as the bird rescue, I also painted a 150 foot long monster mural along the back walls around the institute. Unfortunately I never thought to document any of these ventures and was very fortunate to track down the few images I do have. I actually spent most of my day building new mural pages for my website when I found these images taken by Max Allen. Max is a curator for the Textile museum and a long time HEY APATHY! patron and supporter. Check out the new pages at http://www.heyapathy-comics-art.com/MURALS.html I added 6 new image galleries today . Also if anyone has any shots of the monster mural from Grange Park I would be willing to trade some art or merchandise for the copies of the images. Thanks
