HEY APATHY! MONSTER COMICS. On his 20th birthday the young gentlemen sits back in his chair briefly recollecting his life line as one does before death in the movies. He recalls photographs of his parents when they were quite young followed by images of his hometown, the gardens and school. At school they had books, baseball and a playground and the entire community would gather in the fields on the weekends. He remembers the apple orchard, long since shut down, where he spent his childhood summers picking berries and fruits. Then the images shift to a large group of friends from his high school gathering in the woods to play music and drink. All of his dreams, although simple, flash before his eyes, dreams of heroism and fighting for people. He'd read to many comics and far too many books and always aspired to be a noteworthy person. At the end of high school he left to study law, having figured that it would be more beneficial than a cape and a cowl. He remembers the bank and the large student loan, and remembers the signature like that given to the devil. College soars past and many people discuss many ideas, his interests turn towards the environment as the places he grew up in have all been concreted over. At the site of the machines levelling those fields he awakens from the montage and finds himself seated at a desk. The robotic secretary has completed his interview and presented the man with a five year contract. No more debts, no more troubles and a home all his own and he signs the paper as ominously as before. In time he plans to start his own practice and fight for the landscape but on the way home he buys a wide screen t.v. Before long he has all the wonderful toys and amenities that any promising lawyer should ever hope to own. Completely seduced by the robotic luxuries the man soon forgets the old parks and sets out for a vacation on and island resort
