YEMEN BLUES, Free Live Music Toronto LUMINATO Concert

Lot’s of fun dancing to Yemen Blues World Music Fusion Sounds at Metro Square tonight! Free Funky Outdoors fun! Never heard of the Yemen Blues before but got the tip from a reliable source (and like-minded music snob) so I knew it was going to rock… and it did! A crazy mix of Yemenite culture, traditional blues, funky jazz and a little bit of Fela Kuti ( reminiscent of both Fela’s heart and style). Loved every minute of it, even the improv soundscape while the lead singer had to retreat backstage to deal with some instrument problems. The trombonist blew me out of the water and got my arse up off the grass! Well I never thought I’d see such a thing but the YEMEN BLUES was a band with a REAL SOUL and a REAL MESSAGE!!! (wow it was Music) Good times getting down with Toronto’s Luminato Festival!

A little intro to the group for other uninitiated music lovers
